About Famiroot
Famiroot was built to preserve Chinese kinship traditions in the digital age. As families disperse across continents, the intricate system of traditional relationship terms — 50+ distinct titles encoding generation, lineage, and seniority — risks being lost.
The Problem
Most family tree tools treat relationships as generic labels: "uncle", "cousin", "aunt". But in Chinese culture, your father's elder brother (伯父) and your father's younger brother (叔父) have different titles, different forms of address, and different ceremonial roles. These distinctions carry meaning that generic labels erase.
Our Approach
Famiroot uses graph traversal algorithms to automatically compute the correct Chinese kinship term for any two people in your family tree. No manual lookup tables. No guessing. The system traces the relationship path and applies the traditional rules.
Built for Privacy
Family data is sensitive. Every tree is isolated with row-level security. You can export everything or delete everything — verified, not just promised.
